Why Early Education Means So Much To Us

We’re passionate about what we do at Treasured Tots, and we take our roles and responsibilities very seriously.  We love having fun with children and their families and bringing joy and excitement into the days they spend at our centres, but more importantly, our passion and commitment comes from the understanding that time in our care results in positive long-term impacts for each and every child.

Experts agree – and the science bears it out – that the first five years of a child’s life are the most crucial for their development.

During this time, the child’s brain grows rapidly and their early experiences are critical to their long-term development and health.  These years are the best time to build strong foundations for a child’s holistic development, their lifelong learning, their wellbeing and their health, making early education a key component of a child’s success.

That’s why we are so invested in providing quality childcare and early education at Treasured Tots – because we know how precious and important these early years are.  They’re a crucial window of opportunity and the stronger the foundations established during this time, the more likely the child will become a lifelong learner and engaged and well-adjusted contributor to society.

How do you define early education?

Early childhood care and education broadly refers to all activity and learning programmes for children between birth and the age that a child enters primary education (usually around 5 – 6 years).   These preschool programmes and are commonly referred to as daycare, childcare, nursery school, kindergarten or simply ‘early education’.

Formats of early childhood education vary considerably.  Some are informal, others focus on guided play and structured learning and there are others which are based on a specific educational philosophy such as Montessori or Reggio Emilia.

Treasured Tots centres are inspired by the play-based Reggio Emilia approach and are rooted in the firm belief that very child is capable of creating and exploring their environment to develop their thinking skills and life skills.  We suggest you read this article on choosing the right childcare if you’d like more insight into the topic.
