Child Care Programs Perth

Treasured Tots Early Education are proud of our child care programs in Perth at our childcare centres in Mandurah, Bibra Lake and Fremantle. At Treasured Tots we are passionate about the learning journey our children and Educators go on every day whilst in our environment.

We embed sustainability into our everyday practices to teach children the importance for caring for our environment. Treasured Tots provides a place for children to learn about themselves and the world we live in.

Treasured Tots bases their programs on an educational focus when planning learning experiences and routines. Our program is sourced and built using equal parts of children’s interest, family input, community focus and intentional teaching. Whilst we provide a variety of structured educational activities, we also believe in the value of allowing children to explore and discover the world through play. Each day in our care children will have the opportunity to take part in visual arts, singing, dancing, musical play, dramatic play, and a whole range of indoor and outdoor real life experiences all within a safe, nurturing environment. Treasured Tots develops children to be independent, confident learners and ensures they are well prepared for formal schooling.

The decisions we make everyday form the basis of our curriculum. We make decisions about:

  • Conversations and interactions with children
  • Activities and experiences
  • Resources we provide
  • Routines and transitions

We believe that children are:

  • Capable
  • Natural researchers
  • Powerful
  • Creative & curious
  • Resourceful
  • Active learners
  • Have a variety of intelligences & learning styles
  •  Individuals

We believe in respecting and nurturing the uniqueness of each child so that they develop a sense of belonging and a positive self-concept. Curriculum is the totality of the experiences that are provided within the service including;

  • Relationships
  • Interactions
  • Learning experiences
  • Resources
  • Routines
  • Physical environment
  • Individuals

Our approach to curriculum development is reflective of our beliefs about children and childhood. It encompasses current educational theory and practices and acknowledges that each child has their own learning style, special talents, interests and needs. The curriculum is founded upon children’s strengths and emerging interests and provides meaningful opportunities for children to explore, initiate, investigate, discover, interact, create, solve problems and engage in collaborative learning. When you write in your child’s daily information book, or tell us about something they have been learning at home, you are contributing to our program.

We build on this input, as well as ideas and interests that come from the children, to form the basis of the program each day.

Our Educators use respectful practices in their daily routines. Treasured Tots Programs incorporate the principles and practices of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), ‘Being, Belonging, Becoming’.

The Early Years Learning Framework is designed to enhance children’s play-based learning from birth to 5 years of age and guide children towards achieving the following learning outcomes.

Play Based Learning
We offer a play based learning environment as play is a recognised, valued process for children's learning, thinking, imagination, story making and communication. Our Early Childhood Educators collect information from a variety of sources and then modify the environment to ensure that we are continually developing our play spaces  and learning areas to meet each indivudual child's interests and needs. We create spaces that;

  • Provide an unhurried environment where children have time to explore and extend their investigations
  • Are responsive to children's cues and the way they use the environment and materials
  • Are inviting with open-ended materials
  • Extend children's interests and learning
  • Allow for Educators to model and provide instruction when required
  • Allow for Educators to offer suggestions and encourage children to learn from each other

The play of young children includes many different types including sensory, explorative, physical, creative, symbolic, projective, role play, dramatic play and games with rules. All are important aspects of children's learning and development. Our "play based" program is also designed to:

  • Encourage children to develop an understanding of their social worlds. They can learn to trust, form attachments, share, negotiate, take turns, take risks and resolve conflict.
  • Provide children with opportunities to express a sense of agency and demonstrate their competence and be leaders in their own learning by offering choices and the ability to self-select resources and other play items.
  • Offer a sense of belonging and being – supporting the development of children's individual and social identity.
  • Give children the opportunity to use play to participate in their culture - to develop the ability to express their culture.
  • Allow children to order the events in their lives and to share those events with others.
  • Allow adults (particularly Educators) to interact with and observe children – gaining insights into their interests, skills and knowledge
