This wonderful initiative means that every family will be able to access at least 3 days (72 hours per fortnight) of subsidised early learning and care each week — ensuring every child has the chance to play, learn, and thrive, no matter their circumstances.
3 Day Guarantee
How Does It Work?
From January 2026, here’s what families can expect:
Every family will qualify for 3 days of subsidised care each week — no activity test required.
Families who meet the government’s activity test (such as work, study or volunteering) may receive up to 100 hours of subsidised care per fortnight.
Families with a First Nations child will also be eligible for 100 hours of subsidised care per fortnight.
Families on very high incomes (over $533,280 per year in 2024–25) are not eligible — which stays the same as now.

For example:
Mary and Sam have one child attending Treasured Tots for 3 days a week. Together they earn $90,000 per year.
Before the 3 Day Guarantee, they only received 18 hours of subsidised care each week.
From January 2026, they’ll receive 36 hours of subsidised care each week.
That adds up to a saving of around $230 per week — more than $11,000 per year!
